Sara was born and raised in Lynden, a small town located in western Washington where her parents were successful small business owners. One of her high school years was spent studying abroad in Barcelona, Spain and later, she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Central Washington University. Inland Oil in Ephrata, Washington was where she first put her degree to use in Human Resources. While working there, the responsibility for payroll, safety, employee relations, benefits, workers’ compensation, and training fell on her shoulders.
After Inland Oil, she expanded her HR knowledge in the manufacturing environment where she gained a stronger in-depth knowledge as an HR Generalist for a 24/7 operation. This allowed her to gain a good understanding of collective bargaining, negotiation skills, arbitrations, mediations, leave of absence and benefit administration, employee relations, payroll, talent acquisitions, management, leadership development, compliance audits and more.
The Grant and Adams County Workforce Development council is familiar with her as she has been involved with the board for 1 year.
“I have learned a lot in the past 10 years working in the field of HR and having to work with very diverse situations and people. I am excited to share my knowledge and experience with my clients to help them be successful with their business operations. The key to my success in HR is being able to actively listen to my customers and provide them multiple solutions and facilitate the process to find the best one.”
